Your Bio
David G Hemmings is a world- renowned bird photographer. His work is known through out the bird photography world as some of the most dynamic and impressive bird in flight images anywhere today. His work has been published on the cover of National Geographic and has also appeared on the cover of numerous nature photography publications. David is one of seven world famous bird photographers that have their work in a published hardcover book entitled “On Feathered Wings”. He is also one of four photographers whose works are currently on display as part of an exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History Ornithology Department in New York City.
David also teaches his talents to many others through workshops conducted at different locations throughout the year.
David also contributes to the premier online nature photography website, Naturescapes.net where he is a moderator on the birds’ forum. He is also a member of the Royal Photographic Society.
Since I was a young boy growing up in Ontario I have had a fascination, even an obsession, with nature and its vast array of species. I would spend hours a day in fields and forests watching and listening to everything around me. On one of these days I was thrilled to see a large bird of prey, (I didn’t know what species at that time), swoop down not far from where I was sitting and catch a meal right before my eyes! I was so excited I ran home to tell everyone that I could. From that point on I was hooked on birds. I bought my first pair of binoculars with money from my paper route and began what was for me to be a life long passion. All of my life I have dreamt about flying. What would it be like to soar in the sky over tree tops and mountain crests? As the years went on I realized that my love was strongest for watching birds in motion. Flying, soaring and hunting. It is my hope that through the wonderful medium known as photography that I can share this passion and love with all who care to look. Raising awareness of nature through the appreciation of my work is all I can ask.
